There is nothing like the latex foam mattress when it comes to providing sound and quality sleep. This breakout sleeping product has been hugely popular all over Europe and not without good reason.
Before thoroughly discussing what latex foam mattresses are and what makes them such a hit, the concept of what latex is should be understood. Latex is a kind of natural rubber that is made from the sap of rubber trees. Through technological advancement, scientists are able to come up with a synthetic version of this rubber. Latex foam mattresses are either made of entirely synthetic latex or a combination of synthetic and natural latex. Mattresses that use the natural variety as raw material are typically more expensive than the ones made out of synthetic latex.
Manufacturing of latex foam mattresses does not only differ in terms of the kind of latex used. They may also differ in the manner that the mattress cores are made. There are two basic methods used in latex mattress manufacturing namely, the original or the Dunlop method and the Talalay method. The Dunlop method requires that the latex liquid be combined with air to produce a foam before the liquid latex is poured into a mold and heated until it becomes vulcanized. The Talalay method, on the other hand, requires that the latex liquid be poured into a mold and undergo specific steps until they become latex mattress cores. According to experts, the Talalay process is more effective in maintaining consistent firmness in mattress cores. Incidentally, this process is also more expensive compared to the Dunlop process.
Regardless of the type of latex used and the manner by which a mattress core is created, a latex foam mattress has lots of advantages. One of which is its ability to respond and conform to body shape ensuring proper sleep support. This feature also relieves pressure which accounts for minimal sleep disturbances like tossing or turning. Now, you can sleep in any position without feeling sore in the morning. Latex mattresses are also very durable sleeping systems as they are expected to last for more than twenty years. Some mattress manufacturers even offer a 25-year warranty for their products. Latex mattresses are also naturally resistant to dust mites so these nasty creatures would never be able to settle inside these. Unlike mattresses with innersprings, these latex foam mattresses do not sag so there really is no need to flip or rotate them every now and then.
